Finding a Nanny
Finding prospective nannies can be a time consuming process, and it is a good idea to employ several methods.
- Put up signs in community centres
- Word of mouth from current or former nannies of family and friends
- Agencies
- Ask the agency for references from people who have used them, and if possible get the references from people who you know and trust
- Find out from the agency who is responsible for paying the finders fee, i.e. some charge the employer and others charge the nanny
- If you are responsible for paying, ask what the refund policy is if the nanny does not work out
- Some agencies actually travel abroad to interview and screen potential applicants
